Learning Without Limits
Scaling Anemia Mukt Bharat: NCCDC at the Core of E-Learning Innovation
Partner: UNICEF India (Delhi and Telangana) |
2021-2025
Context
The Anemia Mukt Bharat (AMB) strategy, led by MoHFW and UNICEF India, addresses the urgent challenge of iron deficiency and anemia among children, adolescents, and women. Taking the commitment to make India anemia free, an Anemia Mukt Bharat Training tool kit was developed by experts drawn from partner agencies that included NCCDC and UNICEF, amongst others. As a key partner, NCCDC has been central in transforming AMB training into a scalable digital learning ecosystem, ensuring frontline workers and trainers have access to engaging, multilingual resources.
The Brief
To reach a large, diverse workforce, training needed to move beyond traditional formats. Stakeholders had to adapt to e-learning tools, dashboards, and data systems while learning to report, monitor, and analyze indicators through HMIS. The challenge was to make digital training accessible, user-friendly, and effective at scale.
NCCDC’s Role
- Digital Modules in Three Languages – Developed AMB e-modules in Hindi, English, and Telugu (customized for Telangana), complete with scripts, design, video shoots, editing, and animations.
- Learning Management System (LMS) – Designed and hosted a dedicated LMS for AMB (http://anemiamuktbharatelearning.org), ensuring seamless access for trainers nationwide.
- Localization & Innovation – Created state-specific customizations, including a unique mascot for Telangana, to improve relatability and uptake.
- Sustained Support – Maintained the platform and modules through 2025, before handing over to the Institute of Economic Growth (IEG) for long-term use.
By bridging content, technology, and accessibility, NCCDC has enabled AMB to become a scalable, multilingual e-learning model, accelerating India’s mission to be anemia-free.
